$6B mass discount retailer, 1,450+ stores and ecommerce. Vice President, Marketing from July 2019, promoted to Senior Vice President, Marketing in April 2020. Led a 60-person organization and a $100M budget across brand, analytics, creative, media, ecommerce UX and analytics, PR, CRM and loyalty, accountable for proving an incremental return on marketing spend. Raised marketing from the second lowest employee engagement score in the company to the highest of any function. On the CEO Executive Leadership Team; presented to the full Board quarterly.

  • Grew sales per Rewards member from $204 to $256, up 25%, through 8% more transactions and a 17% bigger basket, by shifting website and paid-search priority from heavy pantry and consumables toward bigger-ticket furniture and mattresses, seasonal and home decor.
  • Lifted Rewards enrollee annual spend from $118 to $163, up 38%, measured through independent bank card data against a prior-year benchmark of the same customers.
  • Lifted brand consideration 15.3% to 21.0%, up 5.7 points against a 1.2-point national benchmark (YouGov), in an integrated campaign test that drove a 2% incremental transaction lift across test stores (APT).
  • Cut $30M of print circulars, a third of working media, after two APT tests set print's return at $2.50, and redeployed it into digital segments returning $7 or better versus control.
  • Doubled blended return on ad spend from about $4 to about $8 over two years through the shift to digital, deeper personalization, identity resolution and sharper audience targeting such as new movers.
  • Grew ecommerce orders per site visit 14% on a flat budget.
  • Delivered 27% new-to-file customers from a military and veteran acquisition program built on a 20M-household addressable audience.
  • Launched the integrated MarTech stack, adding identity resolution to move a mass promotional business to segment-level targeting.
  • Brought product and lifestyle photography in-house, giving back $3M a year to the company's bottom line.
  • Contributed to growing the active Rewards base from 17M to 22M members across three years.

$8B specialty retailer, 1,700+ stores plus ecommerce. Led 30 people and a $230M budget against a 37M-record customer file, with five direct reports.

  • Collected $100M+ a year in incremental CPG partner funding, re-earned every year, via joint business plans with about 10 partners including P&G, Nestle and Mars.
  • Built the company's retail media business, generating $5M in year one plus the incrementality reporting CPG partners used to measure shopper response on PetSmart properties.
  • Owned private-label marketing strategy across the portfolio, about 20% of company sales, briefing intent and key benefits: Simply Nourish, Authority, Grreat Choice, Top Paw, Top Fin, Whisker City and All Living Things.
  • Launched the Ellen DeGeneres co-branded line across TV, digital, radio, CRM and hero in-store placement, running at about $40M in revenue a year.
  • Ran 5,000+ events a year across store openings, pet care education and adoptions.
  • Led the marketing organization through the company's transition from public to private equity ownership.

  • Grew annual pet adoptions from 400,000 to an average of 489,000 a year, up 22%, by integrating adoption more strongly into marketing and scaling four annual National Adoption Weekends.
  • Presented to the full Charities Board quarterly on plans and fundraising performance.

Elevated into expanded roles four times across ten years: Director, Merchandising & Specialty (2010 to 2012); Director, Customer Experience, Events & Services (2008 to 2010); Director, CRM & Loyalty (2006 to 2008); Senior Services Marketing Manager (2004 to 2006); and Marketing Manager, Services Marketing (2002 to 2004).

  • Created the Puppy Starter Kit, negotiating free food from premium vendors bundled with services and private-label coupons; the $19.99 kit still sells today, averaging about $25M a year in direct sales plus an estimated $175M in downstream benefit by moving pet parents to premium food and services.
  • Launched the PetPerks loyalty program, which captured 80% of transactions and 90% of sales in its first year, and built the segmentation and CRM foundation the business ran on for the next decade.
  • Launched co-branded lines with Martha Stewart, Bret Michaels and GNC that reached about $80M in combined annual sales.
